What is this in my parents grass

100% of the yard is covered with these little dirt mounds. What is doing this and how to get rid of it

If it’s earthworms that wouldn’t be bad. I just don’t see how there would be this many. There’s legit hundreds of thousands of these mounds

x 2 on the earthworms... I've never seen that many either but if it was mole crickets you'd see tunnel's between the mounds I think. FWIW, I'm no expert at all.

It looks like earthworm castings. The grass looks pretty thin. That could be contributing to the problem. Better grass coverage would prevent this or at least make it way less noticeable.
