[quote]Ok, let's cut out all of this bullshite. Luxury vinyl is in no way, shape or form "wood like." Wood is wood and vinyl is vinyl. It doesn't feel like wood. It doesn't sound like wood. It only looks like wood. Your home gains value when you install real wood floors. Vinyl is actually less appealing on the market.

Are you people part of some hardwood religious cult I don't know about?
It's ok for there to be flooring option other than handcrafted hardwood.
LVP checks a lot of boxes regarding durability, looks, price, etc so it's a good option for a lot of people. That doesn't mean it's always the best choice though..... Damn

Wood is wood and vinyl is vinyl. Both have there places in a home. Reason as to why vinyl is used more is that a true wood floor cost 3-4 times more then vinyl. And then add in the extra care and up keep.
Another thing to think about. A good 95% of houses these days use paint grade trim completely thru a house. Why? Cause of cost saving. Now 50-60+ years ago, 95% of houses used stain grade wood in their trim work. Another reason for that is not many people can hang stain grade lumber trim and the extra cost to finish it out.
So people try to save a dollar here and a dollar there. You get what you pay for.
Besides that, walking on a real wood floor compared to walking on a vinyl floor is a world of difference.

Engineered real wood or solid?
Solid oak. There are wear spots in the typical walking paths, where we cook, where the chairs are in the kitchen, etc.

i have no idea tbh, I'm gonna say no there is no filler under the baseboards
this is the stone cast brand, supposed to be one of the highest quality holmes sells. idk.
Sounds like a poor install. There has to be something between the flooring and the wall (below the baseboard like you said) to maintain pressure on all the planks. It has to be something that can conform to the expansion/contraction of the flooring/house with the changes in heat/cold too. I have seen that problem before and it is highly annoying when the planks separate. You can even get pinched badly to the point it draws blood.

My buddy has this stuff in his new house. It looks great and seems to be holding up to his dog. Apparently it's easy to install as well.

I definitely think LVP has it's place. It's great in bathrooms, sun rooms, etc. I just wouldn't want 2500sq ft of it throughout my house.
This.
I put lvp down in my laundry room and a bonus room last year. Covered ugly old tile in the laundry room and ripped out nasty old carpet in the bonus room. Huge improvement to both.
As much as I like the lvp in those rooms, when I do the master bedroom later this year it's going to be hardwood.
