Talstar P - Repellent?

I ordered some Talstar P from Amazon after reading a bunch of threads on here about it. I sprayed a healthy layer on pretty much everything, including my house's siding. It repelled all the mosquitoes for that night, but, by the next morning, I had a bunch of mosquitoes right back resting on my siding by the back door.
Talstar P had so many good reviews on here and on the Internet. Questions are: Does it act as a repellent or does it just kill the mosquitoes on contact? Should I purchase another chemical to spray also to act as a repellent? Do I just need to keep applying until I get the mosquito population under better control? Are my expectations too high because we live in South LA and will always have mosquitoes? Is there a stronger product than Talstar P?

You are always going to have mosquitoes living in South Louisiana. Talstar is a repellent but here are some things that affect it-talstars residual is not the best on wet surfaces, droplet size matters-a mist is better, did you have 100% coverage and they will find any spot that isn't covered, make sure they are mosquitoes and not midges because they look really similar. You can try Suspend Polyzone because it has a much better residual.

Try the Spartan mosquitoes traps. From what I understand it renders them “sterile “. I’ve hung two on my acre yard and had a drastic decrease in numbers

I've never used it as a repellent but use it similar to how you describe. It has great residual and that's one of the reasons its so popular unlike one of the other posters has said. It absolutely will kill them on contact. When you get home this evening you'll see a pile of them dead on the ground and they'll continue to pile up for up to several weeks if not a month depending on if you get direct rain on your siding.

I think you are referring to me and suspend polyzone has a vastly superior residual. Talstar does not have a good residual efficacy at all.

I was saying 30 days is not terrible, yes suspend is better residual up to 90 days. I have no experience with suspend so can't personally tell you its effectiveness with mosquitoes. Sounds like you know more than me.
