Getting a number of backyard chores completed right now.

I have (3) Robelleni (pygmy date palm) clusters and (3) queen palm stumps that I'd like to remove. I want to level and sod. My neighbor's tree has some roots I can see in my yard as well that I want to eliminate.

I've never used either of these and planned to rent from HD. Is this equiptmemt fool proof? Can a tiller bust the roots?

Thanks for any insight.

I took out a queen palm recently, just used a shovel. The root ball is small (considering the size of the tree). Not sure about the robelleni, but I rocked a sago palm back and forth and then drop kicked it out of the ground.

If you can run a weedeater/mower/blower, you can operate a tiller. I'd rent a Mantis to break up the ground in order to level. Any palm tree roots shouldn't be a problem.

i pulled out some massive sagos out with my truck. The sago's were 10xs easier than the azaleas i had.

And i would think a tiller would get destroyed hitting big roots, but i've never used a tiller before.
I rented a stump grinder before. wasnt' that hard to operate, but it definitely isn't easy. You better have some muskels.
