Stuck "push button" sink stopper

Stopper is stuck in closed position on a vanity. How to unstick?

at worse, you can put a pan under the sink and disconnect it from the drainpipe and work it out that way.

Small suction cup (from aquarium peripheral) pulled it up.

Get a screwdriver, flip it upside down where the round handle is touching the stopper, and forcifuly tap the top of the screwdriver. It will pop up.
