What should I be doing to my St. Augustine mixed with weeds at this time of year in Metry?

Do this.

Other tips now and going forward - spray weeds with post-emergent herbicide when present - fall, winter, spring and summer - just be sure to use the right herbicides for the weeds you have and the right herbicide for the temperature (so as to not injure the St Aug).

Apply a pre-emergent herbicide now, and again in mid -Feb, so you don’t have as many weeds to spray with post -emergent herbicide in fall, winter, spring and summer. Lastly make sure you mow the St Aug at the proper height - 3 to 3 1/2 inches - to help reduce weed pressure - don’t scalp the lawn.

Craw,

Is it bad to mulch tree leaves into the soil? St. Aug lawn. I'm just recently becoming aware that mulching St. Aug back into the soil is good, but I really deel like raking all the sweet gumballs and leaves.

I do it, so I think the benefits outweigh any potential negatives. Now when the leaf fall is mega heavy, where you can’t see the lawn, I mulch and bag (mower bag) the chopped up leaves and use them as mulch in the landscape beds. I never bag leaves and put them in curb for pickup.
