Btw if you get a proposal feel free to shoot it over to me at username at gmail. I don’t mind giving it a once over to see if they’re fricking you.

What is your current rate per kWh? That's the only way to give you a true ROI.
I priced some out recently, for my purpose, it was about a 13 year ROI.

Cost per kWh is 13.76 cents per kWh.
Over the past 12 months I am averaging 1,415 kWh per month

So you average $200/m.
A solar system for your place is going to price out at minimum $20k, and goes up from there.
In theory, it's over 8 years before you see a return on investment. But also realize, that won't work because solar only gives you energy when the sun is shining. That's not 100% of the time. Based on a variety of factors, a more realistic ROI is probably 15 years.
That's also about the lifespan of many of your components, so when you start breaking even on electrical costs, it's also time to reinvest into new ones.

12 years is what I calculated ROI to be for me. I can do a lot with that money over 12 years. However…like I said before ROI is not the only reason to consider solar either for primary or backup. I’m going to do a small array to power a greenhouse (lights and fans only) because for something like that the ROI is just a couple of years if that, especially compared to the cost of a new service location

Absolutely, and for things like off grid camps and such, it's not really about the ROI, it's more about the fact you can do it at all, in a place where there isn't even a grid to connect to if you wanted to.

Are y’all baking rate inflation into your ROI? We typically look at it from an avoided cost of power model.
