Thanks for this thread. Hadn’t even thought about it.
Ended up using a leaf rake, got as much snow as could reach from the ladder and then carefully got on top and got the rest off. Wasn’t too tough really. Feeling that man card afterwards.

I would have to believe, any amount that isn’t so heavy that you could pull off on top a tarp, would probably not be heavy enough to cause any significant structural concern.
