School me on ductless mini split

I will most likely have to replace my downstairs 3 ton unit soon. Thinking about going with a ductless mini split with 4 zones. I was wondering if anyone has made the switch or other thoughts from the seasoned people on here. Any feedback is appreciated.

I’ve been thinking about just adding one in my master and keeping my central ac. I worry about it leaking in walls, need a really good installer

Awesome technology, but expensive....

Instead of running air ducts everywhere you run copper lines. The heat exchange happens inside the room so there are no losses. Theoretically.

Anyone got one in Louisiana? I like the idea of more zone control. Any idea on costs vs replacing central unit and all ductwork?

Have one with 2 zones on enclosed back porch ( for 10 + years ) in south Louisiana and find they work well and are efficient. Initial install did not have drain lines with proper slope that had to be fixed. This install was on an outside wall, I'm not sure how easy to would be to run electrical , coolant and drain lines to multiple locations (but I'm not an AC installer ).
