I would not use an extension cord.

If less than 100' you could use this. I would put into conduit but this is direct burial wire. The conduit would be to offer protection from digging, etc.

Depending on what you are going to run you will lose some voltage over a long run. To overcome that you may need to use a lower gauge (larger) wire.

Why not just get direct bury Romex? Don’t give insurance companies a reason to deny a claim over a few extra bucks.
