I had turbines and powered fans before but switched to ridge vents when our roof was replaced in 2012. I had the roofer double the amount of soffit vents that we had for extra airflow (they cut them in with a circular saw but it was a lot of ladder work on a 2-story house).

I like the ridge vents better for maintenance reasons, plus the attic seems cooler. We have a lot of ridge since we have a roof with gables on the front and completely across both sides.

I had to make this decision on my home yesterday. I wanted turbines, builder usually does ridge vents. Talked to a friend who owns a roofing company, he said turbines aren’t necessary if you have enough ridge and increase soffit vent. Side note, also have the radiant decking. Kind of goes along with what some folks have been saying here. I like the appeal of how the ridge vents look better and less worry about damage with high winds.

I found no ridge vents in my yard after Laura or Delta but multiple turbans did contact my house and truck.
Neighbor had 8 painted like punkns for Halloween in his yard.
