We have floodlights on the back of our house that only light up about half the yard. I have a shed in the back corner, with power, that I would like to install a floodlight kit onto. I would like for the the lights on the house and the lights on the shed to come on at the same time with one switch. I see RF controlled switches out there, but that means pressing a button or another switch to get both sets of lights to come on. Is there a way to have wired lights and RF controlled lights to work in tandem on one switch?

RF beget X10 which beget zwave and zigbee.

the great thing about these local radio signals is they form a common MESH where the signal is passed from device to device so you can control lights on the far corners of your property no matter how far away they are without the slightest problem.

however, for some inexplicable reason, amazon, apple and google all chose to ignore these standards in their home automation hubs so you'd be looking at the bulb or switch expense (well under $30 these days) + another $50-$100 for a hub controller (smartthings or hubitat) + a bit of a learning curve to set up your switch so when it comes on it turns the others on as well.

the good news is if you do it right, this will still all be local (no google or amazon or apple cloud dependency) so think of it as RF-on-steroids.

thats all i got. someone may know how to do what you want with mechanical switches but the only way i can think to do this is have a hub with a brain that can detect when one switch is turned on and then it turns others on.

Thanks CAD

I was thinking about something in-line with the current wiring that would tell the other circuit/ switch to activate. I really hadn’t thought about the home automation side off it, only because that would be my first time delving into that voodoo.

The Lutron Caseta system can do what you want.

https://www.casetawireless.com/

Lutron seems to have knowledgeable customer service reps. You should be able to explain what you want and they can recommend the system.

Caseta is what you want if you are looking to do just this one switch.
P-PKG1W-WH is a package that comes with a dimmer as well as a remote with a wall box adapter. No hub required
