I have a rotten area of my soffit and eave that needs to be replaced. Do I use treated exterior grade for this or do I stick to untreated and just prime and paint with a good quality exterior primer and paint instead? I’m worried that treated lumber would just shrink. What can the pros on here tell me?

You're good with untreated exterior plywood.

Do not use treated. Use exterior plywood and pre primed fascia.

Ok the first time someone suggested untreated “exterior” plywood, I thought it was a smartass response. Now I realize I’m ignorant with this.

Can someone please explain where I can find untreated exterior plywood? Because I thought the only way wood can be meant for the exterior is if it’s treated.

Don't overthink it. Just go to HD, Lowes or a lumberyard and ask for exterior plywood.

We used to only use AC plywood (fir), but for the last 20-30 years luan is the plywood of choice for soffits.
