I have noticed a lot more poison ivy seedlings this year. I probably have 1/2 acre of garden area and usually i will see one or two poison ivy seedings per year. This year I have seen dozens. Anyone else notice an increase?

It's been more precipitation than normal, perhaps?

But, the wife got hit with some poison ivy and oak a while ago, looked at it on Google and now has decided every vine or weed in our yard is poison ivy or poison oak

Look nearby, look for a thick fuzzy vine going up a tree.

That's the Mother Vine. Cut it with a machete then burn the machete.

Spray all the new growth with Roundup Poison Ivy Control. The shaded ivy will take longer to die. Keep on it. You can contain it.

But find that Mother Vine first. And yes, the vine will give you a rash even worse than the leaves will.

I live in NC and theres a little creek that run by our house. We keep it trimmed and thinned out for aesthetics.

We have had a lot of poison ivy in there this year. I battled it for almost a week on my ankle, arms and hands.

I sprayed everything I could reach with Roundup for several days in a row. Killed it pretty good, now have noticed more growing.

Somebody said something about precipitation.. we've had more rain here than normal. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.

Bird droppings are usually the culprit with seedlings.

Alternatively, you can just hack deep cut into the mother vine and squirt some Crossbow into the cut.

Crossbow Insecticide @ Amazon

I had a poison ivy mother vine going up a 90' white oak and did the slash/inject method. Ended up killing all poison ivy within 10 feet of the tree. Pretty badass. You can also spray it on but the slash/inject worked great for me.

NOTE: I mixed it with some canola oil to make it sticky enough to stay on the vine
