Planting bulbs for the first time - tips and advice

Just looking for some tips and advice on planting fall bulbs. It's my first time working with bulbs. Grabbed a ton of daffodil bulbs from Costco (they were on sale for $3 for 50 BTW) and ordered some more specialized bulbs from Breck's (they were great for ordering and shipping) to place in a full sun spot next to my porch.
Some details that might be helpful:
- I'm in 6A, so I'll be planting here in the next couple of weeks (but have been told I can put them out in November as well).
- Deer hasn't been an issue for me (we have a ton of hostas) but we do get squirrels and we've been fighting moles since we moved in 3 years ago. I've heard of some folks using Repel spray before planting or planting with human hair can help. I've also heard if you plant daffodils around other bulbs it can be a deterrent since supposedly animals don't care for munching on daffodils bulbs.
So what are your go to, tried and true things for planting bulbs in the Fall?
TIA

Haven't done it, but this video will probably answer everything you need if you have the time to watch and listen.

Dig a small hole, throw them in.
It's pretty much that simple. They will grow as long as you get them in the ground. Especially daffodils.
If you want to complicate and overthink it dig a hole deep enough they are covered by about two inches of soil. Make sure the root side is down. Water.

Buy a drill bulb auger .. II use an corded drill for this.. you can knock out those 30 holes in a heartbeat and not have to bend over to dig them.. if you ever get serious and plant hundreds you can mix them a little and plant some upside down.. they will still bloom but take a little longer for the stem to sprout going down and the turn around and come up. It will stagger and extend bloom time.

Bulbs develop roots better if planted in a lose crumbly soil. If you have that, dig small hole, toss in a handful of blood meal, bury bulb upright with top just covered. If soil is more like heavy clay, dig bigger/deeper hole, fill bottom with a garden soil, add blood meal, upright bulb then bury with garden mix. Squirrels are problems in hard food-sparse winters.
