Plant/bug sting?

What would cause a temporary pain like a bee sting that goes away fairly quickly, in a minute or two and doesn't leave any evidence behind?

Stinging Nettle. That’s my guess. Not sure if they have that on the north shore. That may be too far south.

I don't see anything that slightly resembles stinging nettle in my yard. There are however a million bugs, tiny things flying and jumping around. There are certainly a variety of weeds among the grass in the back yard, but the front yard is pretty much solid grass.

I would say that is a horse fly. Those frickers can bite almost instantly when they land.
