Pine needles/mulch after roundup?

Sprayed (regular strength) roundup on the weeds /unwanted clover around the house yesterday. Planning to add pine needles to the beds around the front/side shrubs. Is 24 hours enough for roundup to work its way from leaves to root, to fully kill the weeds, or give it another day or two? 60 degree weather now.

Just put the pine straw down, and monitor the area. Whatever weeds pop out spray them again

I don’t see where adding pine straw would affect that process at all.

Where did you get the roundup? Just an old bottle with your other yard chemicals? I have some regular Nandinas that have spread in parts of our lot. Can't seem to kill this stuff. Wish I could find some Roundup. I know Roundup would kill the Nandinas but I believe it is still outlawed. I think my only choice is to cut the Nandinas to the ground and then tie down a large tarp over them for a year so they get no sunlight.

Where do you live? Roundup is at every home and garden store

You can get 41% glyphosate at tractor supply. It’s also sold under the brand name Eraser I believe.

Dang, I guess I have had my head in the sand. I live in a small town in Alabama, and for some reason I thought Glyphosphate was outlawed. When the weather gets warmer I'm going to head over to Tractor Supply. Thanks to both of you baws for your help.

Roundup no longer contains glyphosate…which is what makes it work. I also buy the tractor supply generic equivalent. As someone else said, what you want is 41% glyphosate…which is the strength that farmers use.

The new roundup has triclooyr which should work on Nandina better than glyphosate as it was originally formulated for “woody” plants like mesquite.
I just pulled and chopped a few Nandinas and finished them off with some mixed triclopyr. I don’t expect any issues. I could be wrong.

Thanks. That's what I need. Glyphosphate was the only chemical that I knew of that can kill regular Nandinas. I dug up alot of them last year and it's impossible to get all of their runners so they just come back. So I will try both the Tractor supply version of Glyphospgate and Roundup's triclooyr chemical to see if one or both work.

Check back in to let us know how they work!

Will do. I have three patches of them that were already out of control on the property we bought 3 years ago.
