I was told, and I've read that if you have spray foam insulation on the roof decking, you don't need and shouldn't have have insulation on the attic floor. My question is, can you add some to the attic floor in just a couple areas where you may not have an AC vent or where you feel you still get some heat from the attic?

I was told not to do that by the insulator. It is supposed to let the heat in the house rise into the attic.

Same here and we actually had the old blown in layers sucked out so we could do the spray foam. We just a room here and there where you can feel the heat from the attic. Mainly in a small bathroom or so that doesn't have an AC vent.

We double insulated the attic floor, and left the roof decking alone... works great

Only other thing we made sure was there was more than enough soffit airflow and more than enough ridge vent flow.... newer houses around here go to such a small roof peak that ridge vent area isn't enough
