I should have been more clear. The clump size is ik, the height is what I'm looking to cut by half.

Height...OK.

Just guessing... if the clump isn't top big, try use truck straps to tie all canes tightly together at the height you want. Then carefully hit it with a chain saw or saws-all above the strap. If the clump is big, tie off sections.

Sorry, can't ask my yard guy...passed away. The help I find now is disappointing and don't speak my language.
