New construction house but AC has dirty sock smell?

It’s not impossible for the AC to be dirty but this house is only a year old and we leave really clean. I’m still getting the dirty sock smell when I kick on the AC. What gives? My filters are changed regularly and clean.
What can I do to fix this? And prevent it?

Don't have any hvac qualifications, but we had this issue at one of our rental properties. It ended up being from some coating (possibly something anti corrosion related) on the coils that was going wrong. I believe it was inside on the air handler. It's been 3-4 years, so the details are a bit hazy.

When was the last time you made sure the drain line was working properly. Sometimes they get clogged up with algae and the pan under the cooling coil gets filled with water and that can get loaded with algae too as it collects.
Once the initial drain line gets clogged, there is usually an overflow pan with an auxiliary drain line to keep from having water leaking all over the place.

Does installing a UV light work if nothing is clogged?

I’m having the same issue. House is 11 months. Coils are clean, no dust or anything in the plenum, and there’s no condensation in the drip pan. I can’t figure it out.
Doesn’t seem to happen every single time it kicks on either.

I had that happen as well in a 4 yr old house. Once you let the ac run continuously, does it go away? It seemed for me to only be when it hadn’t run for awhile. Couldn’t smell anything if just fan on or if heat on, only my when AC was running. It went away in the spring every time until it shut down for parts of winter.

im in the AC business. Funny enough, it's called "Dirty Sock Syndrome." It typically happens when you run your heat and AC the same day, or when you dont run it for a long period of time, then run it. Basically pulls odor from the drain line. Normally goes away quickly once things run normal for a while. Happened to me in my house in like Jan or Feb when i ran the AC during the day and heat at night.

I get it after not running AC for a long time. Usually gone within an hour or so.
If it doesn't go away pretty quick, then maybe there is a problem. I don't believe it represents an issue if it goes away fast.

My house 100% does this. The smell is normally gone after 15 minutes or so.
