Looking into building a metal frame home. Does anybody have input on pros and cons as opposed to a wood frame? I live in Louisiana. I have been told that banks won’t do financing on metal homes.

Banks dont give a shite about what its made of

It has to meet their valuE, loan, equity reqs

Value is determined by the appraisal, if they require one

Your costs will be higher but your insurance should be lower, for fire

Metal studs are thermal bridges in the insulation. Think about insulating external of the sheathing or a plan for continuous internal insulation.

Wood will be significantly cheaper even at the high lumber prices you’re seeing right now. Plus wood is easier to work with and will go up a little quicker. With metal studs you’re dealing with a ton of screws and it’s not very easy to cut in the field. Metal studs can be stronger depending on the gauge of metal used but with residential applications you probably won’t need that extra strength.
