You can plant them now - Nov-Feb is a good planting time for woody shrubs and trees in the Deep South.

Loquat are pretty fast growing and will attract lots of birds and possibly other animals when bearing fruit, so plant them away from the house if you have the room.

Biggest rats I ever saw in my life used to come over the levee from the batture to FEAST on the loquats in my Magazine St backyard. Huge, the size of cats.
