I have a 8 year old Toro zero turn with a Kohler engine, it keeps burning through solenoids. I changed it out twice last summer and it's dead again now. Any clue why they could be dying so quick? I'm to the point of saying the hell with it and just use a screwdriver to start the thing from now on.

Something keeping it energized all the time? Could just be undersized from the OEM and you need to replace it with a heavier duty piece. I would check the wiring around it too. The only things that really kill them are corrosion, failing starter motors, or being too small for the application.

Yamaha ATV solenoids were like this.the contacts on the inside were too thin and basically weld themselves. Convert it to one from an old Ford.
