Intermatic pool timer bending triggers

I have an Intermatic timer running my pool cleaner. Idk why the people who built the house didn’t just install automation, but I’m stuck with it for now. It recently stopped triggering the clean and I noticed the tabs on the triggers were bent so I replaced them and it bent the new ones after a couple weeks. Anyone seen this? Mechanism turns and the switch doesn’t feel hard to move. I greased it up and maybe that will help. Anyone seen this happen?
Also, anyone have experience with retrofitting automation on?

Home Depot carries the the replacement mechanism for those. Turn the power off and install a new one for abt $80. I think.
