Cool. My 4x4 every 8 feet not shadowboxed is the only one standing on my street, and I'm in Houma too. 100% intact and not a single plank missing.

Me - Wet mix concrete in a wheelbarrow till lumpy, no wetter, then shovel and tamp into hole with a 2x2 (or similar). You won't need to brace as 4x4 will stay upright where you set it.

You - probably another equally fine method.
