I have State Farm, and their answer is always no

This is unsettling. I'm with you on changing but the SO wants to remain because we have home/ auto multi-policy discounts.

Don’t call an insurance adjuster lol. Most roofing companies will come out for free to walk the roof. They want money so if they can make a claim they will. A hail storm is a goldmine for roofing companies.

Before we put on a new roof last year, we had roofing companies doing drive buys in our neighborhood. I had 3 companies come by unsolicited, and they walked the roof taking pictures of damage. They pushed for me to file a home owners claim to pay for it.

Our neighborhood is about 20 years old now (typical age for roof replacements), so I think they figured that out and started coming by trying to get business, which is fine I guess.

We have USAA. We didn't try to file under our insurance. We had hail damage (and damage from my son throwing all sorts of balls on our roof probably tearing up the shingles) but it was all damage over time. Not sure if it would've been covered under insurance.
