Thoughts? Centipede in clay soil. Seen similar in this area for years.

I had the same issue years ago. The only thing that worked was mixing centipede seeds in with a bunch of the Scotts yard/starter soil (purchased in big bags from Lowes) with some grass mulch spread over the top to prevent erosion before roots can start. I even tried sod before this and even that didn't work but the seed/soil/mulch combo did. Good luck.

Compacted soil. Aerate and top dress with sand.

Raise your mower deck! Centipede does so much better at 2 inches than at 1/2 inch! St Aug 3 inches centipede 2 inches Tifway 419 bermuda 1 inch, and sharpen your blades!
