It’s unbelievable. We got a quote to do a partial renovation of our kitchen which was mainly taking out a non load bearing wall between kitchen and living room. Keeping all appliances and 80% of the cabinets and adding a 5 foot island. $42k. Planning on saving for a down payment and moving in a few years. Worried everyone will have the same idea though.

I’ll second this. Sounds like long pole in the tent is the 220 line. Get a few quotes from electricians to see what you’re working with. If the vent wall is an exterior wall, and no obstacles (electrical, water, etc.), I can’t imagine that will cost very much.
If the door is just for aesthetics, you could do it last. If it’s necessary to expand the door frame to fit the washer/dryer, that’s a different story… but still shouldn’t be astronomical just for reframing a door.
Let us know!

I don't suppose it would be easier to run a gas line for the dryer instead of 220V electric...if you have gas close you could swap out for a gas dryer. I'd be looking for just about any other solution before spending that to move a washer and dryer. Yeesh.
