Get rid of and prevent vegetation/moss growing on roof?

Very shady over 2 faces of the roof over garage. Any suggestions? Saw the recommendation for dish soap and water online. Did not have much success

By all means, don't pressure wash off the moss. You'll destroy the roof in the process.
A friend of mine had some moss and I think he used bleach on it. I'm not sure if it changed the color of his shingles, though. His moss was along the back on the second floor and it wasn't easily noticeable from the ground
