GE Dryer Help

I have a GE dryer.
Model : GTD42EASJ2WW.
It is 13 months old.
2 weeks ago, it ran (tumbled) for 24 hours straight before we realized that it was malfunctioning. Prior to this, we had no problems. I noticed that the timer was not advancing. I replaced the timer assembly ($130) by ordering the part recommended by the manufacturer and it was easily replaced without complication. Now, the thing tumbles, the timer advances, but the heating element does not come on and the buzzer does not ring when the cycle ends. It does not make any odd sounds and the blower is working just fine. I tried unplugging, waiting 1 minute, then opening the door and closing 6 times quickly. No change.
The lent filter is clean. The discharge vent hose is clean.
Questions:
1. WTF is going on.
2. Could the timer originally malfunctioning have burned up the heating element?
3. Do I need a professional to deal with this?
4. Is it cheaper to buy a new dryer?

One year warranty?
The heating element is an easy check with an ohm meter/continuity tester.
You may have gotten a faulty control board or knocked a wire lose somewhere.
Check the heating element first.

Gotta love those new circuit boards for dryers.

Should still be under warranty, huh?

I would say that if it tumbled for 24 hours straight, your heating element is almost certainly shot…as to why that happened, I don’t know.
