They’re so easy to work on. Basically you can replace the thermocouple assembly and it’s like new.

My utility company will work on the basic things fwiw. They do it for a good deal and are straight shooters. I don’t know if this is normal, but they will hook up a new appliance for $80.
Eta: also a lot of the gas utility company guys do it as a side hustle or the utility company will likely have good references
