It’s about 25 years old and uses the screw-type shaft to raise and lower the door. They don’t make these anymore so it seems repair is a no go.
How much can I reasonably expect to have the unit and door driver replaced? DIY is out because of shoulder and neck problems. Would think we can keep the door itself, even if it’s a little bent.

I replaced mine in our previous home a couple years ago with a Chamberlain belt drive opener ~$150 at Lowes / HD + another $150 for installation. Belt drive was a LOT quieter than the chain drive it replaced. If you really want to quiet it down, replace the rollers with the nylon version while you're at it.

Genie makes a good one too, but had a garage door guy tell me that Chamberlain is a little better.

Do yourself a favor and get one that's WiFi enabled - I had no idea that I couldn't live without that until I had it. Install the app on your phone and open/close it from there as well as the usual buttons; but more importantly check to make sure it's closed for those times you leave and suddenly start thinking "did I close the door?". Or maybe that's just me.

I do this all of the time….I have only left it open one time, but I always wonder!
