What is the going price per square foot flooring contractors are charging? We are changing carpet in 3 bedrooms and putting laminate flooring in the living room.

Lots of factors to consider here.
Do you need the demo done? What is the subsurface and want kind of condition is it in?
What kind of laminate? Floating or glue down? Reminder, the cheap stuff is cheap and will not hold up. If you plan on living here for years, spend the extra money on something decent.
Also, if you have shoe molding that will’most likely need to come off and be reevaluated. If the base molding was put on after the carpet, it might be elevated and the shoe won’t work. I’ve ran into this recently.
