Faulty Home Alarm Sensor?

Hi everyone
There’s been two occasions now where the chime has sounded on our home alarm like a door or window was opened and is immediately followed by the chime sounding like it was closed again with no pause. During a recent storm lightening struck relatively close and the chime sounded immediately. I can’t remember if it occurred when the house shook from the thunder or immediately as the lightning flashed. Do y’all think one of the sensors is going out, or do I have ghosts?

I don’t know what system you have or how your door and window sensors are configured but I have frontpoint with wireless sensors that have a small battery in them. When the battery starts to go bad, my sensors start acting odd. Not showing the door has been closed, not showing it’s been opened, showing closed 20 minutes after I shut the door, etc. take the sensor off and change the battery or just call the alarm company and ask what other reasons that would happen.

We had a hardwired sensor go out on the front door. It would randomly show open. They just removed that sensor from the system and added a wireless sensor in its place.

Move the sensors. The magnet connection may be slightly off and can cause the sensor to go off when your home heats and cools

Contact the company that you have your security system with and tell them.
I know with SimpliSafe, one of our room sensors went out and wouldn't work anymore. I'm pretty sure it's because it fell off the wall twice, but they didn't need to know that.
They replaced it without question and I sent back the old sensor in the box that they sent the new one with.
