Ezgo Golf Cart advice

Recently acquired an old 36v Ezgo series drive for farting around the house. Believe it’s actually an 01. Ended up cleaning it up and throwing 23” tires with 14” wheels. A 6” drop bracket lift. Well now it’s a dog, which I knew was coming. I thought a controller swap would get me back to where I was, power wise. Reading up, I’m wrong. Any advice for those whom have been through this? Not looking to drop another 2k in it if I don’t have to. More than sure I can do what ever is needed myself also. Thanks.

I think most every cart nowadays running on lifts and large tires is a 48 volt (or else lithium run). If you can convert 36 to 48 for not too much $, you might have something. Also, make sure you have water in all your batteries (distilled is recommended) / could be something simple as that. Or try new batteries

Upgrade to a 48v. I put a Navitas motor and controller into mine and it goes 28mph now

agreed on 48V upgrade and a controller.

Where is the fwd/rev switch at? Rocker switch on the dash or handle below the seat? If on the dash you might be able to do some programming without replacing the controller.
How old are the batteries? Have you checked voltage of each batter individually?

I looked into converting it to 48v and it was right at 2K. Of course that was a kit from carts unlimited. I check the water frequently. Keep it charged at least once a week. Limited use… The age of the batteries are below 2yrs. I have not put my ohms on them, though.
I sent a message to plum quick to inquire.
Thanks for the reply’s.

I have an 08 36volt EZGO that runs 20-22 mph. It also has a 6" lift with 14" rims and 23" tires. Not sure why your's is a dog. I do have the speed chip in mine though.
The only problem I ever have is with the rear bearings because I have 1.5" spacers on it. It eats through bearings every year or so.
