I clean mine and dump all of the water in the Fall. That involves removing the fill, etc. which is easy to do. I also bought the cover for it so it sits, dry, and is covered until it's needed once again.

EDIT: I also use a bacteriostatic.
Well if they work, they work. Swamp coolers are awesome out here. You can actually do great with just a swamp cooler(s) in your house out here if you're fine with 70-74 during the day when it gets into the 90's. However, there are always 3-4 weeks of either 100+ degree temps and/or abnormal humidity that will put a house in the low 80's. I still have a dedicated swamp cooler "system" in my house that I use in the shoulder seasons but I purchased a new HVAC system when I gutted and remodeled in 2009.

It depends how you plan to use it.

I’ve had a Cajun Kooling unit for 2 years. I use it pretty much every single day on my back patio. It makes a huge difference and makes it very comfortable.

It will not cool an entire patio or outdoor area by any means. But I sit out under the back patio pretty much every afternoon/evening at some point, and I park it about 6 ft away from me. It makes a huge difference. It’s perfect for what I need.

In mid June I did several thermometer readings one hot miserable afternoon…
Temp in the direct sun: 100.9°
In the shade: 94.6°
Pool water: 89.6°
In front of the cooler: 80.7°

That’s a major difference. The colder the water is inside, the cooler it blows.

ETA: I just did a recheck since the humidity is very high at over 70% today

Shade temp: 91.2°
In front of cooler: 82.6°

Hope this helps, OP
