20-50% of dust in the house is skin cells. There is a way to cut it down but it's not a civilized option.

I am already noticing a difference in how often my heater has to run

Yes.
I never had one. This year I had a top layer of T-A-P Insulation blown into my attic and they added a tent over the attic door with the folding stairs. Makes a noticeable difference in the room with the attic access. And you really notice it going into the attic when you unzip the tent and feel the heat on the other side.

Yes .. I have a few rentals and you could feel the heat come in from attic as walking under attic door.. I put these on them and noticed an improvement .. could not feel heat.. I then had insulation blown in to put much more insulation in.. these also help hold back the insulation blown in ..and insulation packed in all around the attic side of tent .

Heat transfer through non-insulated attic stairs is much greater than most realize
I have never thought too much about this, but I could see where it would be true. Sounds like a great reason to put attic access point somewhere like the garage to me.

I made my own out of 2” Owens Corning foam board.
Thanks for this suggestion.
