You are going to want to pin it with a nail or two until the glue sets. There's no such thing as instant grab unless dealing with CA glue and you'll want more experience before dealing with something that unforgiving. 18ga brad gun is all you'll need though I personally use a 23ga headless pin gun for these things.

Absolutely. Nothing worse than taking the time to do a project, gluing it and the project slips while drying without clamps

That and the frame pieces aren't going to be absolutely free of warpage so you'll want a few nails to straighten things out and keep the joints tight.

OP, you are right about wainscoting making a room. Big fan of it myself. This is the wainscoting I used in my guest house. All oak.
