I have a generator that needs to be connected to a pre-wired house. The circuit breaker is wired, the natural case pipe runs to the generator. Literally all that has to be done is the wiring from the generator needs to be connected to the box, and the natural gas line needs to be connected to the generator and a battery installed into the generator. What estimate would expect?

My immediate thought is "Why not call the people who do this and get prices from them?"

Call around and get several prices and go with the one you feel comfortable with.

You can expect someone to be along shortly to say 350 just to be cute.

I always assume $500 minimum.

In this case you need a plumber and electrician. Assuming a generator sales/installation company can send someone to do both jobs, not positive on that though.

Seems like an easy quote for an install company to give. Where did you get the generator from?

Do you have a transfer switch?

Sorry transfer switch is already installed. I had a company come out. They quoted $2000 to literally just connect the wires, hook up the natural gas line, and replace the battery. Then tried to upsell me on the generator. Obviously not doing that.

Dont know about Kohler but generac generators have to be installed by someone associated with them for the warranty to be valid. In fact they had to call generac for a code to make the control operate. I bought my generac on Ebay and paid 1800 dollars to have it hooked up which seemed alittle high.
