The fam and I are moving into a new house and I am contacting all of the service providers about continuing service. I called the lawn guy and I got a bit of a sticker shock for seeding/fertilizer/weed control for about 1.5 acres of usable yard. How much of a PITA is it to do it yourself? I don't want to spend this much money unless it is worth it. Here is the quote:

Early Spring
Fertilizer + Crabgrass Preventer ............................................................... $365
Early Spring
Seeding Work .............................................................................................. $1018
Late Spring
Fertilizer, Weed, Crabgrass & Grub Control ............................................ $365
Early Summer
Insect Control + Summer Fertilizer ........................................................... $365
Late Summer
Insect + Summer Weed Control ................................................................. $365
Early Fall
Fertilizer Application ................................................................................... $365
Early Fall
Seeding + Aeration .................................................................................... $1378
Mid Fall
Soil Amendment ............................................................................................ $365
Late Fall
Winterizer Fertilizer ..................................................................................... $365

Subtotal: $4951

Get a good broadcast spreader for a few hundred bucks and it’s actually enjoyable to me

What is the seeding for? Looking to change up grass type or is there no lawn?

$450 for a lesco 80# spreader.

$30 for a 2 gallon handcan from grainger
$150 for 5 bags of granular fert x 4
$75 for granular pre em x 2
$70 for Arena grub control
$300 for 12 bags of generic bifen granules.
$100 10oz bottle of Celsius.

$170 Trimec Encore

$2080 total before you add in the seed. Can't price the seed unless I know the variety.

Grass type is quite possibly the most important part of this equation

If you use a riding mower or have an atv golf cart etc. I’d by a pull behind sprayer then get either a pull behind spreader or a large capacity walk behind model. Not hard. Especially if your grass is weed free and good condition

I will post pics next Friday when we close. There are pics on the listing but I don’t think they are close enough to determine the type of grass
