I'd like to know what variety of grass is popping up in my yard every year about the first or second week in January. Bright green, and cold doesn't seem to phase it at all. This week we've had ice, with lows in the teens and twenties with daytime highs not above 40. Still it grows. By later in the spring when the weather warms, it will die down again. Any ideas?

It's a dominant winter weed, Poa Annua or Annual Bluegrass, as mentioned.
