Cheap but adequate grass seed options

I’m trying to seed an approximately 40x40 area in back yard where a large tree was recently removed. Already covered and tilled with good soil/sand mix. I’m not too picky about the type of grass. In fact, a blend may actually be better since parts are shaded and parts get good sun. I’ve purchased the cans of dead spot filling super grass with success, but it’s very expensive and mainly for small spots. Does anyone have recs for something I can buy in larger quantities that will take fairly quickly?

Where are you located? What is the surrounding grass?
You’re running short on time to seed anything right now unless it’s a cold season grass. Bermuda will germinate quickly, but if you’re in shade it won’t do well. Cold season or a blend would be fine but depending on location it may still be too hot.
If warm season grass, I’d recommend sod. 1600 sqft so you’re looking at 3-4 pallets. Centipede would be about $500 if you laid it yourself. St Aug or Zoysia about double that. That’s the best, fastest route.
For seed, you’d need about 5-10 lbs of seed and will need to water it everyday. A “shade blend” of seed will be a mix of fescue which may not do well in the heat of the summer.
