I was planning on digging up the patches of Dallisgrass in my yard as was gonna fill the holes with topsoil and then lay St. Aug sod on top. Then I got the idea that maybe I could just fill the holes with topsoil and throw some Centipede seeds on top and it would fill in? Seems like a cheaper option than buying pieces of sod. I already have a mixture of Bermuda, Centipede, and St. Aug in my yard.

I wouldn't buy any grass from a big box. Your sod has a better chance of surviving if you get it from a grass company. Centipede, St Aug, and Bermuda will be fresher from a sod place. There are many varieties of St Aug and bermuda. Some are better than others and Home Depot or Lowes probably don't know what they are selling.

Yeah you can buy the seed.

I've bought from Ebay too.

I just recently did the same thing with Dallisgrass, with the exception of actually buying sod squares. Worked like a charm! They all caught and filled in, and you can't even really tell anymore. That's the best way to do it. With seed, you will be waiting a lot longer.

Moved into my house last year (subtle new house brag) and planted centipede in front yard. In very pleased with results. I got it from Lowe’s and it was like $45 for 5lbs I think
