So basically everything was done through the bank but the terms of the loan were negotiated with the seller? Can you give a little more information about this? I dont want to get a real estate lawyer involved until I know this is a viable option without much risk.

Rather than me typing a novel and having you depend on anonymous advice simply google "serviced seller financing".

Your local bank may offer this as mine did, cost me around $15 per month as seller which I simply factored in.

My parents did this in 1984 b/c to get a mortgage was nearly impossible. 15% rates if the bank would loan you the money. I don’t understand why it would be done in today’s ultra-low mortgage rate environment and easy access to lenders
