As stated, I'm building a patio cover out of 4"x4" galv. steel tubing. Does anyone make "dedicated fittings" that could be used to connect them together using screws? I have seen the usual stuff at the box stores for wood, but wondering if there is something specifically made to join 4x4 galv. tubing in a tee or perpendicular? I asked at the local Metal Mart and they said, nothing they know of.

metal buildings use 2x2 square tubing and those are easy to get premade connectors for tees and roof braces.

why not use that?

also if you want 4x4, then its better to use the powder coated aluminum ones made for patios so it wont rust

standard square tubing connectors are 1.5" (goes in) and 2" (goes over). you arent going to find 4" square connectors to my knowledge
