Would any H&G fellas know where I can find any Bahama Shutters around the BR area? The only quote I’ve gotten so far was over a grand for one. I wouldn’t be able to look at myself in the mirror if I pay that much for one shutter. Help appreciated

Not hard to make if you have a few shop tools

I have plenty of tools but I think I would mess up the louvers somehow. I’m ok with building things but would rather just buy one this time

There’s a guy making them out of aluminum and selling them to camp owners in grand isle. Good reviews. He’s building us one. Not hurricane rated but looks as good to me. His number is 504-485-1132. Have his number, but not his name. He answers text.

as someone who hemmed and hawed over shutters thinking i would build my own, we finally pulled the trigger and bought. And they ARE NOT cheap!

There's places online you can buy them, there's a place in elmwood that would sell them as well i think. I researched and researched and ended up getting some guy (like noted below) to supply and install. I don't think all these guys are making them themselves, they all come from a few big fabricators.

note: bahama and louvered shutters were the same price. they charge by the SF.

I got mine from LAS just under $5000 for all my windows, if I remember that was 9, they did a good job installing, that was at least 2 years ago and they still look like new.

Gulf Coast Shutters in Houma. 36x74 inch window was about $1100 each installed times 3 windows. Bay window that was 48x74 and two side windows that were 28x74 totaled $3200. Not cheap but this was in December 2023 and a year earlier it would have been $150 a window cheaper because of lower material
costs. LAS was cheaper but I wanted them done quickly. Good company.

A guy that made my first cypress based batten shutters told.me he figured about 700 per build and the rest on the install. They have a warranty. I knew the price after looking up what was available for buying shutters and install accessories online. It was the last rebuild/replace from my Hurricane IDA damage after 2 years of work on the house....fatigue??
