Objective: I’m looking make a privacy hedge between 2 houses.

Species: Encore autumn royalty, majesty, sangria, carnation and chiffon.

Length needed of privacy: 40 Ft.

Question?

Do I make it 1 Row, stagger row or 2 rows?
How far to plant apart from center?
I’ve bought 15 bushes so far. I’m not trying to over do it. I just don’t want to look at the side of the neighbors house when I step off my back porch.

Do you need acidic soil for Azaleas?

Chiffon and majesty are miniature azaleas. The other will reach a 4-5 x 4-5 feet size. I’d space in a single row about 4-5 feet part. If the soil is poorly drained, you’ll need to build up a row. I’d test the soil first to make sure the pH is right. Azaleas prefer a pH around 5-5.5. It’s easier to adjust pH before planting.
