Anyone had a company come and do this for you recently, and if so do you have a ballpark on price? I'm trying to decide if its worth tackling myself.
I'm trying to decide if purchasing everything myself (buying the bags from Lowes and using their machine, eve baffles, foam gun and cans, heat domes for recessed light fixtures, etc) would save me enough compared to hiring a company. If doing it myself only saves $500 I'd rather avoid the hassle, if it saves me a considerable amount I'll bite the bullit and get to work.

Bruh you know how hot it is in the attic right now?
When I built my house, the installation of the blown fiberglass in the attic was not expensive at all. 100% worth the cost of having someone do it.

I'm having insulation added to my attic now. My contractor requested to work nights to avoid the mid-day heat. I immediately hired him upon that request as he was the only one who had the intelligence to think outside the box and get the job done.

I'm not concerned with that. If it's a substantial savings and I'm DIYing I'll do it over a couple weeks in the mornings and evenings as far as air sealing and all of that.

It’s hot, and the work was cheap (in comparison).
When I built my house back in 2018, it cost $0.45/sqft. This was blown fiberglass from nothing to R-30.
Based on Home Depot’s price of blown in fiberglass insulation (pink stuff, today’s price), it would have cost me about $100 MORE to DIY, including free machine rental.
Air sealing was included in their quote for the whole house, but I regrettably used a separate company for the foam in the walls so it was a split contract.

I’m not in Houston. I’m having reflective foam board installed between rafters (standing seam metal roof on laths). The previous owner had raw styrofoam stapled to the bottom of the rafters. That crap fell apart, so having it redone. Installing a solar powered gable vent fan also.
I’m going the opposite direction of attic sealing. Walls and ceiling throughout the attic are rolled fiberglass. I’m cutting my radiant heat from the metal roof and increasing ventilation.

How do you inspect or address roof leaks once this is done, just curious.
