Couldn't an arborist tell you the likelihood of them failing over the next several years?

AN arborist can't tell you the next time you will have a nasty squall, hurricane, or tornado come through though

All trees come down: fire, storms, or disease get them in the end. Pines can snap in 60–80 mph winds, start with those, get quotes. Pruning the water oaks may help reduce off-balance weight. And get stumps ground out too. It hurts less doing it once.

The price for having trees cut is the most negotiable thing I've ever seen. Unfortunately, with all the trees down from the droughts/pine beetles/ice storm, tree cutters will have more work than they can do for a couple of years.

Usually it works like this, they give you a quote for one tree, say $2000, but there are several trees on property, say. 5. They will often say, if you let us cut them all, instead of $10k, we'll charge you $6k. You can usually negotiate the stump grinding in for no extra charge.
