Anyone ever bought toads from a store to turn loose in the yard?

I love toads, just gives me joy when I find them in my yard. My previous house we had them all the time and I made all the effort to keep them there. Buried half pots amongst the hostas and they thrived by the landscape light eating bugs.

This house I’ve only found one so far, I wanna buy some store bought toads. Maybe 3-4 and turn em loose. We’ve got landscape lights here too and a bigger yard. I think they’d love it.

But are toads nomadic? Going yard to yard would they leave me? I plan to do the same as before and build them some houses.

Anyone ever done what I’m thinking of doing? I’m in Colorado by the way, toads do thrive here but not in numbers of the South so going on a toad hunt for wild ones would be tough

Toads are a great sign your garden areas are healthy. It sure where you would buy them but just make sure if you do, you get a native species

they tend to stay put in my experience. There’s quite a few around my house and they do like a good toad hole

we have been here in this house 7 years, first year toads everywhere , sidewalk at night under the light. always saw poop on our patio and front door space. Heck they would use the Dog water bowl in the back as a hot tub chilling station. but over the years it has dwindled to not seeing them that much at all. My dogs are not eating them as they are scared
